"A painting begins in the mind and the idea is explored and expanded through the use of a variety of materials. We are born with and of the creative spirit; our responsibility is to use it! "
Jane Stephenson is an artist who does not limit her subject matter or materials. She is interested in portraying the energy within a figure; the mystery and power of a landscape or a flower. She complements her subjects with abstract or non-objective under paintings that reenact the spirit intended in the painting. For example, the "ohm" symbol of meditation repeated in a grid pattern woven through the painting, The Offering Makers. Jane has been elected to Signature membership in the National Watercolor Society, she is a signature member of the Texas Watercolor Society and a member of the prestigious Purple Sage Society. She has also earned Signature status in the state Societies of Louisiana and Mississippi, the Association of Creative Artists in Dallas and Texas Visual Art Association. Her work can be seen in her home studio and the Artisan's Studio-Gallery. Her work is in the collection of the Mississippi Fine Art Museum. She has shown with the Focus XC group in the museums of Longview, Marshall, Corpus Christi, Rockport, Collin County Community College and J.C. Penney's Corporate Center.
